Hi,
I have recently moved here with my husband, we are both in our late 20s and teaching in a British Curriculum School here.
Just wondering if there are ever any socials or meet ups that we can come to to try and meet some more people?
Cheers,

I know some of you will worry about Friday Prayers, you dont need to the mosque is just close there for Friday Prayers. I will send you meeting point and beach location through email. Now get your swimming suits and crab spears to catch crabs.

Hi everyone. To explain the picture: I was going to make the meet up somewhere in Doha and then to go on our way but to avoid the traffic and eventual complications I changed the meet up for the trip just outside Doha in Umm al Afaee Petrol Station on Garafat Al Rayyan and Dukhan Hwy. So this is why from 11:30 meet up in Doha I changed to 12:30 outside Doha. Anyway very important: 12:30 meet up and not 11:30 I just want to make really sure everyone understands. :)
Ok now let's go on some basic rules although I am sure everyone knows and understands them I just wana make sure everything goes smooth without any incidents:

Euromillions £113m prize not yet claimed by UK winner

What happened to the Brit Club?
Just wondering what happened to this group as it seems to be dead? No activities, no meetings, nothing at all... Now that the holiday season is over, are there any plans to 'revive' this group?

Stringent visa rules 33 countries for entry into Qatar have been postponed!
Plans to introduce more stringent visa rules for entry into Qatar have been postponed.
Government officials will take more time to examine the current visa-on-arrival system, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA), citing an official from the consular affairs department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Gulf Times earlier this month revealed that 33 countries, including the Untied States, the United Kingdom, Germany and France, would be affected by new measures requiring citizens to obtain a travel visa in advance from May 1.
The move to revise the visa regime has been put on hold after a number of countries have asked for more time to apply the “reciprocity” principle, according to QNA.

Icelandic volcanic ash alert grounds UK flights
All flights in and out of the UK have been suspended as ash from a volcanic eruption in Iceland moves south.
Safety body Eurocontrol said up to 4,000 flights across northern Europe would be cancelled on Thursday.
The air traffic control service (Nats) said no flights would be allowed in or out of UK airspace until 1800BST amid fears of engine damage.
The airspace restriction was the most significant in living memory, a spokesman said.
Nats suggested that the restrictions were unlikely to be lifted after 1800, saying it was "very unlikely that the situation over England will improve in the foreseeable future".
Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark were among the European countries hit.
Passengers in Belfast and Manchester speak about flight cancellations

Help with CRB check needed!!
To cut a long story short, the final step of QAWS' charity application is to get police clearance for all the QAWS committee from our home countries (in my case, the UK).
Now I thought this would be simple but it turns out it's not!!
We're not allowed to apply for the CRB checks ourselves (I emailed them to find out the application process) so it has to be done by an organisation registered with the CRB in the UK.
Does anyone know who can submit our applications for us? We have to complete a form which is only available from a registered organisation and the British Embassy couldn't help us.
Thanks in advance!!

New Networking Event
Hi everyone,
I'm in the process of trying to setup a new weekly networking event with a good friend here in Doha. The event we be ran as part of the BNI group - Business Networking International, which is a world wide well established business networking organization.
I have used this type networking before in the UK and it was really helpful for making new contacts and also good friends.
We are going to be arranging a meeting in the next week or so in order to give out information and to answer any questions people may have. At this stage we are trying to get an idea of the number of people that would be interested so we can arrange a sutable meeting place such as the Doha golf club.
